Plot Synopsis
In 1991, Walnut, California, nineteen year old Anissa Ayala is stricken with leukemia. In need of a bone marrow transplant and unable to find a suitable match, the girl's mother, Mary, decides to have another baby in hope that the infant can provide the life saving cure. While a heated medical and ethical debate ensues, the family continues on with their plans which eventually proves to be medically successful.
