Plot Synopsis

On April 1, 2015 it was "leaked" that Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig would star in a top secret movie project for Lifetime -- a suspense thriller called "A Deadly Adoption." Then on April 2, 2015, Ferrell announced it was not going forward, adding "We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public. Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forgo the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film." Well surprise, surprise, on June 11, 2015 Lifetime sent out a press release with a premiere date, an intense teaser trailer and very short synopsis: "Inspired by a true story. A successful couple house and care for a pregnant woman during the final months of her pregnancy with the hopes of adopting her unborn child." When contacting the production company and network, they both refused to disclose anything more. On Monday, June 15, 2015, Lifetime released the official extended trailer, showing even more overly dramatic scenes from the upcoming telefilm.

Well, from the title we surmise trouble ensues and things get deadly. Hmmm...just like the 2013 Lifetime TV movie "The Surrogate," where a successful author and college professor Jacob Kelly and his wife Allison want to have a baby. Unable to have a child, they turn to a surrogate. Who soon begins a secret and twisted plan to have Jacob and his unborn child all to herself.
