Plot Synopsis
In the 1960's, an embittered widow, whose alcoholic, violent husband commits suicide, moves her two daughters to a trashy trailer park in Florida. She soon starts taking out her resentments on the girls with verbal physical abuse. The younger child seeks solace in the friendship of a gentle recluse who bonds with the love-starved girl. The troubled mother, with the help of the woman, realizes the pain she is causing her children and allows them to stay with the compassionate neighbor.
