Plot Synopsis
Inspired by the iconic 1970s' franchise of the same name, IN SEARCH OF features executive producer and host Zachary Quinto as the lead investigator, searching for answers to some of the world's largest mysteries. From the mythical to the scientific, each one-hour episode follows Quinto as he investigates a different subject within a dynamic theme - such as superhumans, alien life, artificial intelligence, Atlantis, time travel, mysterious creatures and much more in search of the truth to some of the world's greatest mysteries. IN SEARCH OF explores enigmas told through the eyes of witnesses and scholars with a personal connection to the phenomenon and includes immersive demonstrations and experiments that contextualize each episode's theme. The original IN SEARCH OF series aired from 1977-1982 and was hosted by Rod Serling and later by Leonard Nimoy following Serling's death. This new version pushes the limits and the approach used to search for these answers through new technology, new locations and a deeper analysis. Quinto's quest for answers takes him across the U.S. from New York City to Los Angeles, and across the globe from Australia to Morocco, Italy, Greece and the UK.
On Friday, October 4, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT, History premiered the second season of IN SEARCH OF. Season 2 takes a close look at the legend of the Loch Ness monster, UFOs, the Bermuda Triangle, the lost colony of Roanoke, the Ark of the Covenant and the end of the world, to name a few. Viewers can expect to see, for the first time, DNA testing used in the mystery of the lost colony of Roanoke, advanced sonar and SCUBA canvassing for evidence of the Loch Ness Monster with some surprising results, a brand-new theory about the Bermuda Triangle and a new, never-before-seen crop circle discovery in Texas. Additionally, this season Quinto takes viewers on a whirlwind journey across the U.S. and the globe including stops in Ethiopia, Sweden, Israel, Guatemala, Chile, Germany and Poland. In the season opener, "The Loch Ness Monster (Part 1)," the Loch Ness Monster may be the world's most famous unidentified species. Is it simply a legend, or could it be much more? To find out, we'll compare decades of encounters across Europe, and use modern science to create a brand-new profile of the beast. Then we'll enter the depths of the loch for a potential history-making encounter. The two-episode installment concludes one week later (Oct 11).
