Plot Synopsis
AMERICAN REHAB: DETROIT is a half-hour series that follows Christopher Lee and his wie, Amy, as they renovate his great-grandfather's 3500-square foot, once-stately home located north of Detroit's Boston-Edison district. Chris' great-grandfather lost the home in the Great Depression, and 87 years later, Chris bought it at auction. Now, armed with a family photo from 1927, this couple -- and their baby daughter Ruby -- live in the house as they bring it back to its Roaring '20s glory. And with the house abandoned for years with collapsing ceilings, a leaking roof and holes in the floor, they have their work cut out for them. This six-episode series follows Chris and Amy as they renovate their historic 1903 Detroit home, with each 30-minute episode focusing on a different room, including: the living room, which they restore to its former glory complete with a cement tiled fireplace facade and built-in bookshelf where the old radiator used to be; the kitchen where they transform a butler's pantry into a new breakfast nook, and update the whole room with modern appliances and custom cabinetry; the master suite, with salvaged closet doors and an antique mantel in the bedroom and a huge new shower and reproduction subway tile in the en-suite; the bathroom, as they salvage the early 1900's tub and transform the bathroom into a charming space with custom wallpaper inspired by the original design; outdoor projects, like the garage, where the keep the original dormer intact, and the front porch, which gets a face-lift. and more. AMERICAN REHAB: DETROIT was originally scheduled to premiere on HGTV on Thursday, October 16, 2014, but the series was moved to DIY Network for a Thursday, January 8, 2015 debut. At the last minute, the series premiere was delayed until the 15th and again until Thursday, January 29, 2015, when DIY Network debuted back-to-back episodes at 9pm ET/PT.
