Plot Synopsis

This spinoff of WHEN CALLS THE HEART tells the story of sisters Lillian and Grace who open an orphanage in the 1916 Western town of Brookfield. Caught between the traditions of cattle ranchers and the ambitions of a growing town, they strive to find romance and happiness while overcoming the challenges of helping the children in their care. Throughout their journey, they discover community, acceptance and love as they create the family they always longed to have. WHEN HOPE CALLS characters Lillian and Grace first won viewers over in "The Greatest Christmas Blessing," the 2018 WHEN CALLS THE HEART special. Joining them in this series are Gabriel, the Brookfield Mountie who has caught Lillian's attention, and local ranch hand Chuck, who is vying for Grace's heart. Rounding out the ensemble is Tess, Chuck's mother and until recent events, a long-time family friend of Lillian's.

WHEN HOPE CALLS premiered on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, when Hallmark Movies Now released the first two episodes. Then, one new installment of the 10-episode first season debuted every Friday through October 25. On Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 9-11pm ET/PT, Hallmark Channel debuted the first two episodes, marking the linear television premiere of WHEN HOPE CALLS. On Friday, October 25, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Hallmark Movies Now released "Where Hope Goes," the season finale of WHEN HOPE CALLS. Lillian and Grace make a difficult choice in order to do what's best for one of their orphans. Gabriel hopes to get his man before Lillian, or anyone else, gets hurt. Chuck realizes that it is time to share his true feelings.

On Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 10-11pm ET/7-8pm PT, GAC Family premiered "When Hope Calls: Hearties Christmas Present," a one-hour special, featuring the cast and crew of WHEN HOPE CALLS going behind the scenes of the upcoming second season.

On Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 8-10pm ET/5-7pm PT, GAC Family debuted WHEN HOPE CALLS' two-episode holiday special. The town of Brookfield amps up its holiday charm as it vies to be named "Harper's Bazaar" magazine's No. 1 Country Christmas Town. As the photojournalist is finishing up his time in Brookfield, Lillian and the orphans are running out of options to restore a troubled boy's hope for better times.

Season 2 of WHEN HOPE CALLS debuted on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 8pm ET/5pm PT on GAF. The new season expands on relationships in the frontier town of Brookfield, a loving, tight-knit community of people who look out for each other. With Mountie Gabriel still away on assignment, the town welcomes new Mountie Michael Fletcher. While Lillian prepares to leave for London to help her sister Grace through a difficult pregnancy, a lawyer shows up at the orphanage with a surprising secret.

On Sunday, May 11, 2025 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, GAF premiered "Season of Change," the Season 2 finale of WHEN HOPE CALLS. The town celebrates; meanwhile, the Mounties and ranchers team up to protect the ranchers' livelihood.
