Plot Synopsis

FILTHY FORTUNES is a one-hour docuseries that the "King of Hoards," Matt Paxton, as he travels around America in search of rare, big-ticket items hidden in some of the most cluttered, filthy homes imaginable. Matt, along with Expert Appraiser, Mike Kelleher, and Clean-out Manager, Kayland Brock, take on the biggest, most dangerous and physically demanding jobs to transform both the houses and the lives of those in desperate need of their help. Using their combined expertise, the team must overcome unique challenges to uncover historical finds -- spanning a Mickey Mantle rookie card to John Wilkes Booth's actor bill card, to misprinted stamps, rare coin collections, vintage toys, military memorabilia, and much more - totaling a profit of nearly a half million dollars. But before the treasure hunt can begin, Matt assesses the property to determine potential costs associated with the clean-out and estimate the value of items hidden inside the hoard. With each property, he wagers that he'll discover enough to cover all the costs and make a profit. Matt takes all the risk, and if all goes according to plan, it's a win-win situation for both him and the client.

On Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 10pm ET/PT, Discovery Channel premiered "The Maine State of Cash," the season finale of FILTHY FORTUNES. In the largest hoard he's ever tackled, Matt must find rare military plane parts, vintage records and a hidden jewelry cache to have a shot at making a profit; he brings in heavy equipment to clear the property and dig for big-ticket items.
