Plot Synopsis

Narrated by Tom Hanks, THE AMERICAS is a 10-episode documentary series that showcases the wonders, secrets and fragilities of the world's greatest supercontinent. For the first time, the Americas stars in its own incomparable series, using innovative technology to uncover never-before-seen behavior, and highlight the extraordinary, untold wildlife stories that will deeply connect with millions around the world. Five years in the making and filmed over 180 expeditions, this groundbreaking series reveals the spectacular landscapes of Earth's most varied landmass -- the only one to stretch between both poles. THE AMERICAS unprecedented scale and ambition delivers remarkable world firsts; new species, new intimate courtship, dramatic deep-sea hunting and some of nature's strangest stories -- even a frog that defies death every day. Each hour-long episode features a different iconic location across the Americas:

"The Atlantic Coast" (Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 7pm): The Atlantic Coast, where wild horses battle, bald eagles chase ospreys and sharks protect fish; raccoons navigate city life, black bears search for food in ancient forests and a 130-year-old oak tree prepares for winter's arrival.

"Mexico" (Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 8pm): Mexico, where deserts meet tropics; new footage of fledgling pygmy owls, orca hunting, new species in flooded caves and orchid bees filmed in incredible detail, all revealing the hidden lives of unique wildlife.

"The Wild West" (Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 7pm): The Wild West, where coyotes face a snowbound Yellowstone, rattlesnakes emerge in the hundreds, woodpeckers compete to store food, bison battle on the Great Plains and cranes gather in vast numbers on their age-old migration.

"The Amazon" (Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 8pm): The Amazon, the largest rainforest on Earth; drone footage captures giant otters hunting together while black caimans prey on newly hatched turtles; a harpy eagle chick's first days in the canopy and army ants on the move reveal new behaviors.

"The Frozen North" (Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 8pm): The Frozen North, where wolves and polar bears vie for food, hares outsmart lynx and walrus sing on rocky shores; as summer arrives, grouse perform mating dances, caribou migrate vast distances and salmon race upstream to survive.

"The Gulf Coast" (Sunday, March 16, 2025 at 8pm): The Gulf Coast, where swamps and wetlands shelter black bears and alligators; manatees gather in freshwater springs, burrowing owls look for love in the suburbs and a rare ocelot raises her kittens in Texas' thornscrub.

"Andes" (Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 8pm): The Andes, Earth's longest mountain range; baby bears make treacherous descents, rare hummingbirds compete for mates, frogs freeze and revive, and lizards battle for territory -- all in a land of extremes, from glaciers to deserts.

"The Caribbean" (Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 8pm): The Caribbean, where sailfish hunt with speed, sperm whales dive for squid and millions of red crabs migrate to the sea; hummingbirds defend territories post-hurricane, and on nearby islands, capuchin monkeys use tools to survive.

"The West Coast" (Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 8pm): The West Coast, where wolves scour shorelines, sea otters dive through surf, blue whales race and roll in a rare display and octopuses make the ultimate sacrifice for their young; high in the Redwoods, salamanders leap to survive.

"Patagonia" (Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 8pm): Patagonia, a wilderness at the far south of the Americas; pumas hunt in snowy mountains, rockhopper penguins brave the waves, giant stag beetles climb trees, orcas learn to hunt and elephant seals fight for dominance on the coast.

"The Making of The Americas" (Sunday, April 20, 2025 at 8pm): Tom Hanks and the crew reveal a behind-the-scenes look at the extraordinary dedication, innovation, humor and heart it took to create THE AMERICAS.
