Plot Synopsis

DR. OAKLEY, YUKON VET is a one-hour reality series that follows veterinarian Michelle Oakley (aka Yukon Doc), as she raises her family and makes rounds in the Yukon Territory, treating animals of all shapes and sizes. Michelle has lived in Haines Junction, Yukon since 1992 with her husband, three daughters, and animals. Since graduating from veterinary college in 2000, Michelle has been providing veterinary care to all creatures in rural communities of SE Alaska and Yukon, as well as providing specialized veterinary services in wildlife health and anesthesia for conservation and research projects throughout the north. In this series, Dr. Oakley performs routine vaccinations and exams on 26 huskies at a sled-dog operation; rapidly works on a dog with a face full of porcupine quills; turns foam piping into a wing splint for an owl named Aspen; runs some tests on horses that may be at risk for a highly contagious disease; pays a visit to the angriest muskox in the Yukon for a routine check-up; helps a devoted dog owner figure out the best options for his sick yet beloved family lab suffering from a chronic cough caused by a blocked windpipe; and helps many more animals and their companions. The second part of Season 1 premiered on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. In the season opener, "Mush Madness," Dr. Oakley handles a variety of patients, including some very fast sled dogs, in the days leading up to her work at a Yukon sled dog race. Then, on race day Michelle plunges in, examining a long stream of athletic dogs.

Season 3 of DR. OAKLEY, YUKON VET premiered on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Yak Attack," Dr. Oakley prepares for her firstborn to leave home, and a tarred eagle tests her limits.

Season 4 follows her as she makes house calls across thousands of square miles in the Yukon Territory in northern Canada -- where she's responding to some of the most unique and challenging cases of her career. From moving bears with tractors and horses with helicopters, to castrating angry boars and capturing wild bison, she'll have to use every trick she has to save these animals. Accompanied by her daughters and armed with a sense of humor as sharp as a scalpel, Dr. Oakley deftly juggles being a full-time veterinarian, wife and mom while taking viewers into the isolated regions of the Yukon.
