Plot Synopsis

YUKON MEN follows a few residents of Tanana, a town deep in the remote interior of Alaska, at the junction of two powerful rivers, with approximately 200 citizens, as they face one of the most brutal winters on record. People struggle to find food and heat, battle life-threatening predators just to survive, and endure frigid nights, as they defy the odds, overcome obstacles, stick together and prevail. Discovery aired the Season 2 premiere on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 10pm ET, with Stan nearly losing his winter's supply of fish, Courtney attempting to bring down her first moose, and Jim's dog team suffering a deadly virus outbreak. YUKON MEN returned for its third season on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery. In "Breaking Point," the Season 3 premiere, a government ban on a staple food source sends the Yukon Men to extremes. Meanwhile, the village is visited by the Governor of Alaska, who bears news about a new road that threatens to open the town to the outside world, likely changing the town and its people forever. As the men come together to face these new obstacles, each is also challenged on a personal level. Stan has to figure out how to retire, and and decides to gamble on an old mine deep in the bush. His son Joey, who has long heard the tall tales of his father, must decide if he'll follow in his footsteps or blaze a new path. Charlie who's been the backbone of the town, finds himself in a turf war and looks for higher ground to escape those who'll ruin the town when the road is paved. Season 4 of YUKON MEN premiered on Tuesday, September 9, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery, immediately following an all-day marathon (9am-9pm) of encore episodes. In the new season, the 200 villagers face of Tanana face new threats to their way of life, causing some people to take extreme measures -- even to reassess their remote lifestyle. Residents find themselves at odds over a trap line, fighting for their livelihood. But they also pull together as a community to battle a pack of wolves closing in on Tanana and to rescue a stranded villager cut off by the sudden breakup of the icy Yukon River. YUKON MEN returned for its fifth season on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery. In the season opener, "Tanana's Last Stand," the largest wildfire in Alaskan history torches the land surrounding Tanana and threatens to devour the village. With state resources spread thin, the villagers must band together to battle the blaze or risk losing everything. Later, when the smoke clears, the land is in ashes. The wildlife they depend on has fled. They face an uncertain future in a world more dangerous than ever. Each man and woman will be pushed to their limit as they fight to adapt to the harsh new landscape and reclaim their lives on the edge of the world.

Season 6 of YUKON MEN premiered on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery. Last fall, the largest wildfire in the country nearly wiped Tanana off the map. Half a million acres of prized hunting and trapping land were incinerated. Now, the Yukon Men battle their toughest and most unpredictable season ever. While rebuilding in the aftermath of the fire devastation and coping with changing weather patterns, residents face a new uncertainty; their fellow man. The new road gives outside trophy hunters access to Tanana's sacred land and resources. With their way of life under attack, the villagers must find ways to survive this unstoppable invasion. This season digs deeper into the life of each Yukon family like never before. For many villagers, the future of Tanana is uncertain. Will the residents embrace change or will external forces end a way of life dating back hundreds of years? In the season opener, "The Road," villagers face a new threat as outsiders descend on sacred hunting grounds; Charlie and James track a moose and make a disturbing discovery; Stan races to find a new source of fresh water after a vital spring dries up.
