Plot Synopsis

Based on the life of the San Francisco food blogger at BrokeAssGourmet.com, YOUNG & HUNGRY is a half-hour sitcom that follows Gabi Diamond, a self-taught cook, who becomes the personal chef for Josh Kaminski, a self-made millionaire. Outrageous, good-hearted and charismatic, Gabi has a true gift not only for cooking, but for figuring out what it is people really want to eat. She's willing to work hard to make her dream of becoming a professional chef a reality, and she's thrilled when she gets the chance to be the personal chef for Josh. Josh is a cute and charming dot-com whiz, but his smarts and sweetness have often gotten in his way when it comes to love, especially with his girlfriend, Caroline. But Josh is in the market for a personal chef, and Gabi landed an interview for her dream job. Josh is won over by Gabi's ability to know exactly what he wants to eat and hires her, even though his right hand man, Elliott, preferred a famous chef for the job. Gabi must first prepare a romantic meal so Josh can propose to Caroline. When the dinner goes awry -- and Josh and Gabi get a little closer than they anticipated -- Gabi fears she may have lost the best job she ever had, but with the help of her best friend and roommate Sofia and Josh's housekeeper Yolanda, Gabi turns a difficult situation into an opportunity for employment and maybe even love. Gabi's roommate, Sofia, is determined to do more than fetch coffee for the senior partners at her firm, and she's thrilled about Gabi's potential job with Josh because it means she'll have access to his insanely wealthy circle of potential clients. At Josh's home, Gabi works with: Elliot, Josh's publicist and right-hand-man, who makes no secret of his disdain for Gabi, especially after Josh hires her against his wishes; and Yolanda, Josh's housekeeper, who admires Gabi's spirit and will have her back even while Elliot schemes to kick Gabi to the curb. Ashley Tisdale is an executive producer of YOUNG & HUNGRY. On Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT, ABC Family aired the Season 1 finale of YOUNG & HUNGRY. In this episode, "Young & Thirty (and getting married!)," Josh and Caroline's wedding is now happening in five days, sending Gabi into a panic about her feelings for Josh. Pushing aside her feelings, Gabi is excited to present Josh with a very special birthday gift. But when Caroline arrives, having clearly forgotten Josh's birthday, Gabi offers to let her claim the gift as her own. However, Gabi is unprepared for Josh's heartfelt reaction to the gift and wonders if she should tell the truth -- potentially ruining the big day. Season 2 of YOUNG & HUNGRY premiered on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT on ABC Family. The second season picks up with Gabi surprised by the return of ex-boyfriend Cooper, just as her boss, Josh, has called off his wedding due to his feelings for her. In the season opener, "Young & Too Late," Gabi is freaking out about why Josh called the wedding off and searches for a sign if she should be with him or Cooper, but it's Sofia who makes a surprising discovery. Meanwhile, Elliot has a big date with the wedding florist (guest star Miguel Pinzon) and ends up bringing a forlorn Josh along. YOUNG & HUNGRY executive producer Ashley Tisdale will reprise her guest role as formidable magazine editor Logan Rawlings in Season 2, and Jesse McCartney returns as tech genius Cooper in several episodes. When she hits a bump in the road, Gabi must do what she does best in order to save the trip. Back in the city, Elliot and Alan cut their honeymoon short, forcing Yolanda to step in as marital counselor in hopes of ending the newlyweds' lovers' quarrel. Meanwhile, Josh's chances at love may have just literally passed him by. On Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT, Freeform debuted the fourth season of YOUNG & HUNGRY. Trying to make Josh and Amanda jealous, Gabi and Adam decide to make the most of their "honeymoon" at a couples-only resort -- and post about it on social media. Meanwhile, Yolanda, Elliot and Alan have to think fast when they end up at the same resort and the manager assumes they're a "thrupple" -- a three-person couple. Bryan Safi also guest stars.
