Plot Synopsis

Based on Caroline Kepnes' 2014 novel of the same name, YOU is a psychological thriller series that answers the question: What would you do for love? When a brilliant bookstore manager, twentysomething Joe Goldberg, crosses paths with an aspiring writer named Beck, his answer to that question becomes clear. He'll do anything. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle -- and person -- in his way. Co-creators Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble will serve as co-showrunners. In the series opener, Joe meets Beck, falls in love and goes down a social media rabbit hole to learn everything about her. He becomes so obsessed that he tracks her IRL (and they meet again!) This might be a real shot at real love. But there are some things standing in the way... like her ex, Benji. If Joe's serious about Beck, he's going to need to get serious about the problem of Benji.

Moving to Netflix for its second season, YOU debuted with 10 new episodes on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. Joe -- now Will Bettelheim -- arrives in his own personal hell on Earth: Los Angeles. He's trying to go straight, but the past doesn't always leave well enough alone, because love, like murder, has a way of tracking you down. Joe realizes Will Bettelheim isn't all he's cracked up to be. The fallout threatens to get in the way of his burgeoning connection with Love. Joe attempts to keep things platonic with Love and keep his nose out of Ellie's business. But his instincts soon get the better of him.

The entire 10-episode third season of YOU dropped on Friday, October 15, 2021 on Netflix. Now married with a young baby, Love and Joe try to forge a normal life in the affluent suburb of Madre Linda. But old habits die hard. Season 3 opens after a delivery room surprise, where new dad Joe struggles to connect with his infant child, but he has no trouble at all fostering a new infatuation. Then, Joe and Love try couples therapy, but their issues may need more than counseling -- and their friction isn't the only thing they need to make disappear.

On Thursday, February 9, 2023, Netflix released the first five episodes of YOU's fourth season. Starting anew in London, Joe vows to bury the past and be his best self. He tries to lay low and resist old habits... until he's forced to tie up loose ends and bond with a circle of wealthy socialites. And on his rocky road to redemption, a new obsession starts to take hold.

On Thursday, March 9, 2023 -- one month after Season 4 debuted -- Netflix released the final five episodes of the new season. In the mid-season debut, "Amour Fou," Beck heads to Connecticut with Peach, whose motives are not what they seem. Joe's pursuit of her stirs up old memories -- and brings new injuries. Then, a grieving Beck turns to therapy, which leads Joe to do the same -- for different reasons. Joe's plans for Beck's birthday don't go as expected.
