Plot Synopsis

THE WRESTLERS is a one-hour docuseries that follows hardcore musician and pro wrestling aficionado Damian Abraham, as he expores the vibrant subcultures of professional wrestling around the world. The series goes beyond the world of mainstream professional wrestling to dive into the vibrant, fascinating and bizarre subcultures in the wrestling universe around the world. From Lucha Libre in Mexico to the women's wrestling scene in Japan to voodoo wrestling in Congo and countless points between. In the series opener, "The Best New Talent in America," Damian follows veteran promoter Gabe Sapolsky's crew on an American tour as he trains the next crop of superstars.
On Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 10pm-Midnight ET/PT, Viceland premiered the season finale of THE WRESTLERS, debuting back-to-back new episodes:

"Voodoo Wrestling" (10pm): In war-torn Congo, a cultural collision has created voodoo wrestling, one of wrestling's strangest subgenres in which suplexes and powerbombs mix with hexes and black magic.

"Body Slamming Homophobia in Mexico" (11pm): Exoticos, male wrestlers who embrace the feminine and dress in drag inside the ring, have been defying the macho side of Lucha Libre for decades.
