Plot Synopsis

Launched in 2003, Nickelodeon's "Let's Just Play" campaign is designed to empower kids to engage in active, healthy and fun play. By going into communities, schools and homes, Nickelodeon provides kids information about why being active is important and how they can get started. Since 2004, the network suspends programming on all its television stations from Noon - 3pm ET on one Saturday in late September or early October, on a day which is designated as WORLDWIDE WIDE DAY OF PLAY and is now the culmination of a six-month-long "Let's Just Play" campaign. During this three-hour time block, Nickelodeon only displays messages that encourage children and families to go outside and play. In the campaign's first year, five cities -- Miami, FL; Houston, TX; Syracuse, NY; Fayetteville, AR; and Florence, SC -- hosted "Let's Just Play" events that were co-sponsored the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Now, WORLDWIDE DAY OF PLAY is celebrated nationwide with hundreds of cities sponsoring local programs. In honor of the 10th anniversary of WORLDWIDE DAY OF PLAY, Nickelodeon celebrated with a day full of activities, games, sports, music and PLAY at The Nethermead in Prospect Park, Brooklyn on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 10am-4pm.

On Saturday, September 26, 2015 from Noon - 3pm ET/PT, Nickelodeon celebrated WORLDWIDE DAY OF PLAY by airing no programs on TV -- with NickToons, TeenNick and Nick Jr. also participating -- to encourage kids to go outside instead. Plus, for the 12th annual event, Nickelodeon hosted health and wellness events around the United States, in partnership with the Afterschool Alliance, the Association of Children's Museums, the Boys and Girls Club of America, the Girl Scouts of the USA, Key Club/Kiwanis, Major League Baseball's #Play Ball, the National Environment Education Foundation, NBA Fit, NFL PLAY 60, Playworks, Right to Play, USA Dance, Roller Skating International, Save the Children, Up2Us Sports, USA BMX and the YMCA of the USA.
