Plot Synopsis

Using re-enactments and interviews with the survivors and their friends and families, WILL TO LIVE explores the most extreme and dramatic stories of survival, where ordinary people were confronted with nature at its toughest, proving that storms, fires, and even the power of the open sea are sometimes no match for the human spirit. Each one-hour episode features multiple stories of survivors, including: Corey Richards, who climbed Pakistan's notorious Gasherbrum II, a 21,000 foot peak, in the dead of winter, when an avalanche buried him and his team of three; Cathy Frye and Rick McFarland, lost down a new trail recently wiped out by rain in Big Bend Park, who realized that without food and water there would be little chance to make it out of the park alive; a team of Australian explorers entering the massive Cocklebiddy Cave, who are part of the most astonishing survival story in the history of cave diving; the Gulick family, who jumped in two vehicles and desperately drove through a wildfire blazing around them when the flames approached their home; the Gropps and their two friends, who braced for impact and hoped for the best when a routine flight on a small plane went drastically wrong; and many more people who fought back against nature and lived to tell their tales. WILL TO LIVE premiered during the Weather Channel's "Natural Drama" programming block.
