Plot Synopsis

THE WHISTLE is a sports anthology series -- with interviews, behind-the-scenes moments, feature stories, hints & tips, and an educational segment -- targeted toward the youngest generation of fans, covers the players, the fans, the training and the sports for kids. When the series premiered in October 2012, NBC Sports aired new 30-minute episodes each Friday for ten weeks. The premiere episode included stories about: interviews with NFL quarterbacks and Super Bowl MVPs Aaron Rodgers and Eli Manning; training tips and recommendations from San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis; behind-the-scenes moments with Ravens running back Ray Rice as he visits his mom, Janet Rice; NHL goalie and 2010 Olympian Henrik Lundqvist; tips on how to dunk from the Harlem Globetrotters; trick basketball shots from YouTube sensation All Day Basketball; advice from skateboard star Manny Santiago; and an educational segment on the importance of the ACL and how to treat the sports injury. This series is part of a larger, cross-platform initiative, The Whistle, focused "exclusively on developing sports programming tailored to kids," with investors such as NFL quarterback Peyton Manning, New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and former soccer star Mia Hamm. This initiative's website, http://www.thewhistle.com/, launched the same day as this TV series.
