Plot Synopsis

Former Senator Selina Meyer becomes Vice President, only to discover the job is nothing like she expected -- and everything she was warned about. As she juggles her busy public schedule and demanding private life, she finds the time to get behind pet projects and reforms, but her staff usually ends up working damage control. The Vice President's staff includes: Sue, her executive assistant; Amy, her Chief of Staff; Mike, her weathered spokesperson; Gary, her right-hand man; Jonah, a young and somewhat clueless White House liaison; and Dan, an ambitious political aide.

Season 2, which debuted on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT on HBO, opened with the Vice President scoring higher ratings than the President in several popularity polls, which she hopes will boost her influence and help her curry favor with the chief executive, but she knows all too well that the most banal action can set off a ripple effect that has unexpected, far-reaching and disastrous consequences -- even if it's just an unflattering photo of her released by the White House.

VEEP returned for its third season on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 10:30pm ET/PT on HBO, starting with the revelation that the President will not seek reelection, which prompts Selina to seek a promotion -- and she starts immediately by courting Iowa caucus voters at a signing for her new book. The rest of Season 3 follows the whirlwind day-to-day existence of Vice President Meyer as she puts out political fires in her public and private life while launching her campaign for President. Selina and her staff head off to meet America in Detroit and Silicon Valley, go on a drug bust with the Maryland Coast Guard, and fly to London to confer with heads of state. Meanwhile, as Dan and Amy battle for the role of campaign manager, everyone helps Selina define who she is and where she stands on fracking, education, reproductive rights and her hairstyle. With all of America now watching her and her team, even the most banal action can set off a ripple effect that has unexpected and far-reaching consequences.

On Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 10:30pm ET/PT, HBO premiered the fourth season of VEEP. Having become president after her predecessor stepped down, Selina Meyer is about to give her first major speech as commander-in-chief, though it remains to be seen whether her term will outlast that of America's shortest-serving president, William Henry Harrison. With the stakes for Selina and her team higher than ever before, she must still run for election, and in the weeks to come they will grapple with how to make her seem presidential.

Season 5 of VEEP premiered on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 10:30pm ET/PT on HBO. President Selina Meyer is in the midst of a virtually unprecedented Electoral College tie, with her future as commander in chief coming down to just a few hundred votes. While Amy and Dan work on a long shot to victory, Selina finds herself spinning her wheels in D.C., as her staff strives to make her seem presidential (even though she actually is president), at the same time fending off the ambitions of Tom James, her charismatic running mate, who in a twist of obscure constitutional procedure could end up becoming president. Recurring guest stars on the 10-episode season include John Slattery as billionaire banker Charlie Baird; Sarah Sutherland as Catherine, Selina's daughter; and Hugh Laurie as Tom James, Selina's running mate.

The sixth season of VEEP premiered on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at 10:35pm ET/PT on HBO. One year ago, President Selina Meyer lost a Senate vote to resolve the Electoral College tie. Now out of public office for the first time in years, she seeks to secure her legacy and find her place in the world, while much of her staff pursues endeavors of their own, with varying degrees of success. Guests this season include Amy Brenneman, Margaret Colin, Stephen Fry and Paul Scheer. In the season opener, "Omaha," Selina attempts to secure her legacy. Dan tries to ingratiate himself at his new job. Amy's brash D.C.-style personality proves too much for her new co-workers.

VEEP returned for its seventh and final season on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 10:30pm ET/PT on HBO. Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as former vice president and president Selina Meyer, who is looking to get back to the Oval Office. The seven-episode new season of VEEP finds Selina Meyer trying to gain traction in early primary states, wooing uber-wealthy donors while navigating threats from primary challengers, including aide-turned-congressman Jonah Ryan. Selina's band of misfits is also back, except for Mike, who's been banished from her orbit and is now covering the presidential campaign, having been replaced by his ongoing nemesis in the press, reporter Leon West. Meanwhile, Amy is figuring out how she feels about her pregnancy vis-a-vis Dan, who seems unwilling to give up his playboy ways for fatherhood. Rounding out the team are ever-faithful bagman Gary, cantankerous Ben, numbers-obsessed Kent and staffer Richard
