Plot Synopsis

Chef Todd Fisher travels across America, visiting restaurants, festivals and bars that use bacon in their signature dishes. In each 30-minute episode, Fisher journies to a different region or city, where he samples sensory-overloading bacon creations from three or four different kitchens. His stops include: Milwaukee and Kenosha, where he samples the Barrie Burger at AJ Bombers, attends a daily bacon happy hour at the Saloon on Calhoun, eats a meaty Garbage Platter at Frank's Diner, and begs for more bacon-wrapped meatloaf sandwiches at the Comet Cafe; Chicago, where Fisher drops in on Gino's for a mammoth deep-dish pizza overflowing with meat, chomps down on a massive triple-decker BLT at the 140-year-old Green Door Tavern, and creates a B-L-Turtle Burger at Morrie O'Malley's, a favorite pre-game stop among White Sox fans; and more establishments in cities like Des Moines, Seattle, the Bay Area, Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, and Portland, OR. Destination America first aired UNITED STATES OF BACON on July 8, 2012, as the first episode of the three-part series UNITED STATES OF FOOD.
