Plot Synopsis

Two two-person teams of aspiring restaurateurs compete to prove they have what it takes to open their own restaurant, and they have just 24 hours to conceive of a concept, decor, and food while turning a blank space into the restaurant of their dreams. On each team, one person handles the front-of-house (decor; seating; service) while the other person handles the back-of-house (menu; shopping; cooking). Once the doors are open, actual diners are served and a rotating panel of restaurant experts judge each restaurant on its concept, execution, and viability. The winning team earns $10,000 seed money to open their own restaurant. 24-HOUR RESTAURANT BATTLE first aired as a 60-minute special on December 18, 2009 at 10pm on Food Network. Food Network aired a sneak peek of the series on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at 10pm and the official series premiere on Tuesday, July 21, 2010 at 10pm.
