Plot Synopsis

With commentary from fantasy fiction writers to criminal profilers, TRUE MONSTERS sorts the fiction from the often-muddled facts about the most terrifying monsters, awe-inspiring myths, and timeless legends in history. Each one-hour episode covers three different creepy creatures, including: a beastly devil deep in the woods of New Jersey; a Christmas devil that takes naughty kids to Hell; a banshee born during the Revolutionary War that might still curse the North Carolina woods; a medieval clan of cannibals out for blood in 16th-century Scotland; and many more monsters.

History premiered the season finale of TRUE MONSTERS on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 9-11pm ET/PT, showing back-to-back new episodes immediately following an encore presentation of the show's first two episodes from 7-9pm. The night's first new episode (9pm), "Gods and Monsters," looks into whether there is truth behind the Scandinavian folklore of the thunder god Thor; plus, new evidence suggests the discovery of the birthplace of the legendary god Zeus. Then, in the finale (10pm), "Giants and Beasts," stories of giants fascinate people, from the Bible's Goliath to the Cyclops of Greek mythology; now, new evidence suggests that many of these mythical creatures may not be made up.
