Plot Synopsis

Ten expert anglers vie for the $30,000 bounty and a 2014 Chevy Silverado, as they compete in a series of elimination fishing challenges that range from zipline fishing to capturing fish using only their mouths. Each 60-minute episode has three challenges. Each program, except for the finale, opens with a quick challenge that divides the remaining competitors into two teams -- and sometimes even sends an angler directly to the elimination challenge. The players then compete in a team challenge, with the losing team being sent to the elimination challenge, where they compete for the chance to continue their pursuit of the TOP HOOKER prize, while one angler is sent home. In the finale, the remaining three anglers compete as individuals in two consecutive elimination challenges, until only the winner remains after two full days of deep-sea fishing by rod and reel. Quick challenges include: jumping into a tank of goldfish and moving as many of them as possible into buckets in five minutes -- using only their mouths; hitting 10 tiny lily pads in just five minutes; reversing trucks with boat trailers while avoiding flags; and pulling 18-pound weights from deep below the ocean's surface. The team challenges include: swooping on a zipline into California's Corona Lake from up above and netting as many fish as possible toward their team total; balancing on floating squares while reeling in fish from California's Corona Lake; clawing catfish from a giant tank; and fishing from floating tricycles at Cabrillo Beach in California. Elimination challenges include: walking on a man-made floating bridge designed to make them wobble their way to a catch; catching fish that can't even be seen with the naked eye; using remote-controlled boats to bait, hook and net their prey; walking on water while catching bass; hooking a shark; hooking, reeling and netting a fish from 10 feet in the air in the treetops; and two full days of deep-sea fishing by rod and reel. The competitors are: Attila Agh (aka Attila The Hungarian), a squash teacher, who has won more than 50 fishing trophies; Patrick Crawford (aka Cocky Captain), an inshore fishing guide and certified United States Coast Guard captain, who has more than 30 years of experience fishing in freshwater lakes and rivers; Danny Devries (aka The Bass Man), a wild-land firefighter, who became a bass tournament professional at age 17; Ian Esterhuizen (aka Beefcake South African), a former successful bodybuilder, who is the son of a South African fishing legend; Dzifa Glymin (aka Fly Boy), an expert fly fisherman with more than 30 years of experience, who has participated in two national fly fishing championships; Melanie Housh (aka Sexy Spearfisher), a professional fire lieutenant, paramedic and rescue diver, who is experienced at free diving, spearfishing and offshore fishing; Greg McNamara (aka Grampa Greg), a skilled surfacaster, who loves the dangers the waters of the East Coast present, swimming well past the surf to land large striped bass; Larysa Switlyk (aka Bowfishing Babe), a beauty-pageant and bodybuilding competitor, who is an experienced bowfisher, using her unmistakable pink arrows; Kevin Vendituoli (aka Al-lure-ing Lawyer), a corporate lawyer, who is a self-taught fisherman in a wide variety of fishing techniques, including surfcasting, fly fishing and spearfishing; and Chris Wright (aka The Laidback Hawaiian), a professional fishing guide on Oahu's North Shore, who is the son of a famous Hawaiian fisherman made famous by hosting his own fishing show.
