Plot Synopsis

Inspired by the life and stand-up of star and co-creator Chris Estrada, THIS FOOL is a half-hour comedy series set in working-class South Central Los Angeles. The show centers on Julio Lopez, a 30-year-old who still lives at home who has been dating his girlfriend on and off since high school and finds any excuse to avoid dealing with his own problems. Julio works at Hugs Not Thugs, a gang rehabilitation nonprofit, where he butts heads with his older cousin Luis, an ex-gang member who just got out of prison and moved in with Julio and his family. All 10 episodes of THIS FOOL's first season dropped on Friday, August 12, 2022 on Hulu.

The sophomore season of THIS FOOL officially debuted on Friday July 28, 2023 on Hulu, which released all 10 episodes of the new season. Two days earlier -- on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 10-11:20pm ET/PT -- FX aired the first two Season 2 episodes as a sneak peek of the new season. In Season 2, new roommates Julio and Luis embark on finding new careers and romances with the help of Minister Payne, Chef Percy and other former Huggers. IN the season opener, "The Rooster," Julio Lopez has a heart of gold and goes out of his way to help everyone but himself. Julio attempts to better his community, overcome his codependency issues with his family, and navigate working-class life in South Central.
