Plot Synopsis

Inspired by the "New York Times" travel column of the same name, chef Kristen Kish and former pro soccer player Kyle Martino arrive in a new city each week where they have a weekend to meet insiders who point them to the best restaurants, hot spots and attractions. In the premiere episode, Kish and Martino have 36 hours to explore why Berlin is notorious for being one of the most creative and avant-garde cities in Europe. On their three-day tour, they meet artists part of the graffiti art movement, they discover the city's history and adoration with sex, they get backstage access to Berlin's wildest stage performance and they learn how the now unified Berlin has given rise to innovative dining experiences. In subsequent episodes, the hosts travel to Barcelona, Boston, Istanbul, Nashville, and Portland, OR. In addition to the linear television series, there is companion editorial and video content across platforms on NYTimes.com and Travel Channel digital properties.

On Monday, September 21, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT, Travel Channel premiered the season finale of 36 HOURS. In the season ender, "Boston Pride," Kristen takes Kyle on a 36-hour adventure in her backyard, Boston, and introduces him to the city to which she moved 10 years ago -- a city whose pride and whose people she credits for her success. Kyle meets Kristen at The Liberty Hotel, once home to The Charles Street Jail that housed prisoners of every stripe for over 100 years. Next, Kristen takes Kyle to her favorite neighborhood, The North End, known as Boston's Little Italy, before venturing along The Freedom Trail. They explore the Boston Harbor by water taxi, and head to Row 34, one of the best-known oyster bars in town, where they meet up with comedy film director Paul Feig. After dinner, Kristen and Kyle head to the infamous neighborhood of Southie where they have some pints with the locals at the L-Street Tavern, made famous by the film GOOD WILL HUNTING. For Day 2, Kyle and Kristen split up on their own adventures. Kyle heads to The Charles where he meets up with Matt O'Leary, a Harvard grad and member of the US Men's National Lightweight Rowing Team, while Kristen returns to Stirr, a culinary kitchen owned by her mentor Barbara Lynch where she decides to create a meal for both Barbara and Kyle. After lunch, Kristen and Kyle participate in a vintage baseball game where sport and history come together, before Kristen turns up the heat and takes Kyle to East Coast Grill for dinner. On their last day in Boston, Kristen and Kyle head out on the waters of the Boston Harbor and go Lobster Trapping with Captain Fred Penney, and then eat lobster at Sullivan's Castle Island.
