Plot Synopsis

THICKER THAN WATER is a one-hour reality series that follows the self-dubbed "Black Brady Bunch," a southern family under the watchful eye of pastors and parents Ben and Jewel Tankard, who raise their blended family of four children -- plus a daughter in law and a granddaughter -- under one roof on the outskirts of Nashville, TN. Under the watchful eye of their patriarch and matriarch, the Tankard children, although young adults, still live at home and must abide by Ben and Jewel's rules. With the belief that "God wants us all to be millionaires," the Tankards aim to be the best and brightest in everything they do. The Tankards are: patriarch Ben, the Godfather of the Gospel Jazz music scene, who is the genre's best-selling artist/producer of all-time, a former professional basketball player, and is now launching his "Full Tank" big and tall men's clothing line; matriarch Jewel, a fierce advocate for personal development and financial empowerment, who mentors others to invoke new ideas in order to inspire them to dream and create change in their lives; 21-year-old Benji, a construction manager and DJ, who is recently married to Shanira, a student pursuing her degree in fashion design; 23-year-old Britney, a customer service rep and family jokester, who loves dance and is developing a dance outreach program within her father's church, Destiny Center; 25-year-old Brooklyn, founder of Queen Brooklyn's Virgin Hair, who is a devoted and loving mother to her 10-year-old daughter, Diamond, the apple of her eye; and 18-year-old Cyrene, a model and a senior in high school, who is preparing for college next year but also plans to develop a signature line of lipstick and nail polish. THICKER THAN WATER returned for its second season on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo. In Season 2 the Tankard clan continue to live their lives as best as they can with their strong religious convictions at hand. Ben and Jewel Tankard are back, leading their self-proclaimed "Black Brady Bunch" family with children Brooklyn, Britney, Benji, and Cyrene. Joining the family in the "Tankard Palace" is Ben's oldest son, Marcus, who returns to Tennessee with his wife, Tish, to a warm welcome from everyone -- except Britney. This season, preacher and patriarch Ben celebrates a year of milestones, as he turns 50 and his 25th anniversary in music is fast approaching. At the same time, he deals with the twists and turns that come with fatherhood. The real ruler of the household, Jewel, faces what the kids are calling a midlife crisis as she copes with her golden girl and youngest, Cyrene, leaving for college and a rift with her sister that threatens to divide the family. The eldest daughter of the Tankard clan, Brooklyn, finally comes into her own as an entrepreneur, channeling big ideas into money-making opportunities and taking the hair industry by storm. Healthier than ever, Britney embarks on a transformative fitness journey, and when the return of Marcus opens up old wounds, she stands ready to confront her traumatic past. Recently married Benji is motivated to follow in his father's financially successful footsteps while itching to start a family of his own. An old soul and born leader, Marcus is more concerned with making a difference than with making millions, and when his family discovers the secret he brought home with him, it changes the Tankards forever. Season 3 of THICKER THAN WATER premiered on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on Bravo. This season, preacher and patriarch, Ben faces the stark reality that the Tankard household has become an empty nest and also realizes there are deep emotional wounds that need to be healed within the family, mainly between him and his eldest daughter Brooklyn. Embracing a new chapter in her life, Jewel prepares to welcome her grandchild and launch her very own nationally syndicated television talk show while trying to reconnect with Cyrene, who went to her freshman year of college meek and mild, but reemerged as a certified wild child. Meanwhile, Britney, healthier than ever, is unable to shake the notion that a baby is what's missing most in her life and embarks on a journey to make her dreams of motherhood come true while Benji and Shanira eagerly await the arrival of their first child. Marcus plans to expand his ministry into Nashville but can't hide his frustration with his family's adamant criticism of his wife's parenting skills. From an eye-opening girls trip to Jewel's hometown of Detroit to a traumatizing secret haunting Cyrene, it's a season of breakthrough and transformation that forces the family to embrace each other and move forward to a place of joy and love.

On Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, Bravo premiered the Season 3 finale of THICKER THAN WATER. In the season ender, "Family First," Cyrene shares a personal secret she's been keeping from Jewel in an emotional mother-daughter moment. Benji and Shanira prepare to welcome their baby into the world while Brooklyn prepares to debut her music for the first time. Ben seizes the opportunity to finally prove his support for his oldest daughter but heavy tension still lingers between Britney and Brooklyn. The Tankards have one big day to prove their unwavering support for one another but if things don't go off without a hitch the ramifications could be colossal.
