Plot Synopsis

Joan Lunden and numerous experts explore the complicated subject of caregiving and aging, covering the topics of body, mind, spirit and environment. This four-part series features real families who are grappling with the financial, emotional and physical repercussions of caring for a disabled or aging family member, as well as advice from top caregiving experts, including: gerontologist and author Dr. Alexis Abramson; Sherry Snelling, Chairman of the National Alliance of Caregivers; and Dr. Ann Morrison, head of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. The four episodes are: "The Mind," which shows dementia in its many forms, helping caregivers know what to expect and how to plan; "The Body," examining the physical, spiritual, and economic challenges facing all caregivers while offering resources and products designed to ease the burden on the caregiver; "The Spirit," discussing how to find support systems and how to manage expectations; "The Environment," showing how experts perform a home makeover using cost effective design elements for the home.
