Plot Synopsis

In this half-hour reality series, country music superstar Kix Brooks travels across the United States in search of the best steakhouses that America has to offer. During his years on the road touring as a part of country music duo Brooks & Dunn, Kix has discovered that every city across the country has a wide variety of steakhouses that are putting their own unique spin on this amazing meat. From classic joints serving traditional steakhouse fare to modern restaurants pushing culinary boundaries, Kix explores everything that makes American steakhouses downright delicious. Big flavors and big meat take center stage, as Kix visits Dallas, Denver, New Orleans, New York City, Omaha and Washington D.C. to discover all of their delicious carnivorous offerings. In the premiere episode, Kix is in the heart of steak country to visit three local legends in Omaha, Nebraska. His first stop is at the family-owned and operated Johnny's Cafe, which started as a small saloon nearly a hundred a years ago and is now a classic steakhouse serving up the juiciest prime rib in town. Just down the road, Kix gets a taste of Dario's traditional European fare, including steak frites and a decadent chocolate cake made with dark Belgian beer. Last but not least, Kix checks out Gorat's, a favorite amongst locals for their version of the quintessential Omaha dish -- the whiskey steak. Cooking Channel first aired STEAK OUT WITH KIX BROOKS as a one-hour special on Sunday, November 2, 2015 at 8pm ET/5pm PT.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 9pm ET/6pm PT, Cooking Channel premiered the season finale of STEAK OUT. In the season ender, "New York City," Kix is in the Big Apple with an even bigger appetite as he explores three of NYC's best steakhouses. Everyone from Albert Einstein to Babe Ruth has eaten at historic Keen's, home of the famous Mutton Chop. Sammy's Roumanian Steakhouse is a true NYC original that serves juicy steaks and traditional Jewish dishes like stuffed cabbage that have their customers literally breaking out in song and dance. Just across the river in Long Island City, M Wells is making a splash. The restaurant, housed in a converted auto-body shop, is putting an eclectic spin on traditional steakhouse classics with dishes like their mouthwatering burger served "bone-in," and pork chops that are thinly sliced and piled high like a stack of pancakes.
