Plot Synopsis

Named for Karsten Solheim, founder of Ping Golf, THE SOLHEIM CUP is women's team golf tournament held every other year, featuring teams of 12 golfers representing the United States and Europe. Teams compete in match play over three days, including foursomes, fourball, and singles. The inaugural SOLHEIM CUP was played in 1990 at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club in Florida, and then every even year through 2002. The SOLHEIM CUP then switched to odd years from 2003 through 2023 and returned to even years beginning in 2024. The 1990 SOLHEIM CUP was televised on a tape-delayed basis more than a month later, when ESPN aired a one-hour program on Sunday, December 30, 1990 at 6pm ET/3pm PT.
