Plot Synopsis

Based on the 2013 movie of the same name, SNOWPIERCER is a futuristic thriller set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, centering on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a 1001 car, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe. Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out in this television adaptation. In the season opener, "First, the Weather Changed," Snowpiercer, the Great Ark Train, has kept the last remnants of humanity alive for almost seven years. A rigid class system maintains order, with First Class holding power over workers, while a condemned Prison Class struggles to survive in the Tail. Now, a grisly murder is stoking class division, so Melanie Cavill, the powerful head of hospitality, deputizes a dangerous rebel to help solve the killing -- Andre Layton, the world's only surviving homicide detective.

TNT premiered Season 2 of SNOWPIERCER on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT. At the end of the first season, the survivors of the revolution are trying to pick up the pieces and maintain a fragile peace amongst the now merged classes with Layton emerging as the train's leader. Discovering Mr. Wilford is alive and headed their way on a rival train, Melanie risks going outside to prevent him from invading Snowpiercer. While she's out there, it's revealed that Alexandra, Melanie's daughter, who she thought had died, is alive and has become Wilford's dedicated protegee. In Season 2, an entirely new power struggle emerges, causing a dangerous rift as people are divided between their loyalty to Layton and to Mr. Wilford, who has a new train, new technology and a game plan that keeps everyone guessing. While Layton battles Wilford for the soul of Snowpiercer, Melanie leads the charge on a shocking new discovery that could change the fate of humanity.

Season 3 premieres Monday, January 24, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on TNT. At the end of SNOWPIERCER Season 2, Layton and Ruth, who were banished to Big Alice's compost car, plotted to take back Snowpiercer. With the help of Javier and Alexandra, Layton and Ruth made it back to Snowpiercer and rallied with their supporters. Josie destroyed the Aquarium car, separating Snowpiercer's head from the remaining 1,023 cars. Season 3 picks up with Layton and his inner circle commanding a small 10 car "pirate train" in search of Melanie and a possible warm location to restart civilization; while back on Snowpiercer, Mr. Wilford is consolidating power, awaiting Layton's return.

On Monday, March 28, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT, TNT premiered "The Original Sinners," the Season 3 finale of SNOWPIERCER. It all comes to a head as old adversaries clash, with New Eden hanging in the balance.

SNOWPIERCER has been renewed for a fourth season.
