Plot Synopsis

This scripted musical drama follows lyricist Julia and composer Tom, as they lead a group of people while creating "Bombshell," a Broadway musical about the life of Marilyn Monroe. Julia recently began the process of adopting a child with her husband, Frank, but her focus is torn when she has the opportunity to write another Broadway hit. And their relationship gets even rockier when her infidelity is revealed. At the center of the production, a rivalry formed between two women competing for the lead role in Season 1 -- Karen was the youthful, inexperienced Midwestern beauty who was willing to do anything to get the lead role, while stage veteran Ivy, Tom's go-to girl, was disappointed when she ended up in the chorus because she was too old to play Marilyn. Behind the scenes, Eileen was the shrewd, smart and cynical NYC theater producer, who jumped on board with a brilliant director, Derek, whose talent was matched only by his cunning and egocentric amorality. Despite the drama in Season 1, the "Bombshell" team is now one step closer to achieving their Broadway dream. The three-week limited engagement in Boston was the success the team was hoping for, but in Season 2 they are about to learn even a charmed show cannot avoid paying for sins of the past. Season 2 premiered on NBC on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 9pm ET with a two-hour season opener.
