Plot Synopsis

THE SISTERHOOD: BECOMING NUNS is a one-hour reality series that follows five young women who consider taking religious vows to become Catholic nuns. In observance of the sacred vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, they left behind everything they had come to love -- boyfriends, family members and all their worldly possessions -- to see if they have what it takes, as they live and work together alongside nuns during the discernment phase, the process wherein they decide if they want to formally continue on their holy path. The women spend two weeks in each of three convents: The Carmelites for the Aged and Infirm in Germantown, NY; The Daughters of St. Mary of Providence in Chicago, IL; and The Sisters of St. Joseph the Worker in Walton, KY. Working with Sister Beth Ann Dillon, Caryn M. Haas, and Florine Licavoli, these five young women decide if they want to become nuns: Christie (age 27; from: Glendale, CA), who likes to rock out with her country music band while still following all the traditional tenets of the church; Claire (26; Joliet, IL), who was homeschooled throughout her childhood in a devout Catholic home and was a parish music minister; Eseni (23; Bronx, NY), a former beauty queen and aspiring model, who rebelled against the church as a teen but has returned in search of her true calling; Francesca (21; NJ), a die-hard believer who struggles with church positions on hot-button issues; and Stacey (26; NYC), a lifelong Catholic who grew up a parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and has traveled throughout the country, performing in musical theater.
