Plot Synopsis

SEX EDUCATION is a one-hour, coming-of-age dramedy series that tells the story of Otis Milburn, an inexperienced, socially awkward high school student being raised by his sex-therapist mother Jean. Surrounded by manuals, videos and tediously open conversations about sex, Otis is a reluctant expert on the subject. When his home life is revealed at school, Otis realizes that he can use his specialist knowledge to gain status. He teams up with Maeve, a whip-smart bad-girl, and his best friend Eric, and together they set up an underground sex therapy clinic to deal with their fellow students' weird and wonderful problems. Through his analysis of teenage sexuality, Otis realises he may need some therapy of his own. The series takes on conversations about sex, identity, love and the ups and downs of young adult life in a frank and truthful way and proves "Experience is Overrated!" On Friday, January 11, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the eight-episode first season of the series.

Netflix released the entire eight-episode second season of SEX EDUCATION on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. After setting up a sex clinic at school to capitalize on his intuitive talent for sex advice in Season 1, Otis now must master his newly discovered sexual urges in order to progress with his girlfriend Ola while also dealing with his now strained relationship with Maeve. Meanwhile, Moordale Secondary is in the throes of a chlamydia outbreak, highlighting the need for better sex education at the school and new kids come to town who will challenge the status quo.

Season 3 of SEX EDUCATION dropped on Friday, September 17, 2021, as Netflix released the entire eight-episode new season. With a new headmistress, new uniform and a new attitude, it's time for change at Moordale Secondary. It's a new year, Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way. Meanwhile, new headteacher Hope tries to return Moordale to a pillar of excellence, Aimee discovers feminism, Jackson gets a crush and a lost voicemail still looms. Prepare for commitment animals, alien phenomena, vulva cupcakes and much more of Madam Groff.

The entire eight-episode fourth and final season of SEX EDUCATION dropped on Thursday, September 21, 2023 on Netflix. Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Otis and Eric now face a new frontier -- their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, whilst Eric is praying they won't be losers again. But Cavendish is a culture shock for all the Moordale students -- they thought they were progressive but this new college is another level. There's daily yoga in the communal garden, a strong sustainability vibe and a group of kids who are popular for being...kind?! Viv is totally thrown by the college's student-led, non-competitive approach, while Jackson is still struggling to get over Cal. Aimee tries something new by taking an Art A-Level and Adam grapples with whether mainstream education is for him. Over in the US, Maeve is living her dream at prestigious Wallace University, being taught by cult author Thomas Molloy. Otis is pining after her, whilst adjusting to not being an only child at home, or the only therapist on campus.
