Plot Synopsis

In SEVEN YEAR SWITCH, four couples at a crossroads in their relationship get the chance to live with a stranger for two weeks to help determine if different traits and characteristics in a mate could make their marriage stronger. Each of the couples, who have been married for seven years and have not yet had children, participate in switch therapy, as they swap partners and partake in experimental marriages. Two relationship experts help guide the couples through the switch therapy process, as they adjust to living with an experimental spouse. At the end of the month-long experiment, each of the married couples will reunite and make the decision: to either part ways and divorce, or reaffirm their commitment and renew their vows. The experts are: clinical and forensic psychologist Jessica Griffin, Psy.D., who has expertise in trauma, relationships, and high conflict divorce, and has been working with couples and families for over 15 years; and college of medicine professor Dan Shapiro, who earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Florida and went on to Harvard Medical School where he completed an internship and an endowed post-doctoral fellowship. Season 2 of SEVEN YEAR SWITCH premiered on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 8-10pm ET/PT on FYI. In the season opener, four new married couples are introduced as they embark on an emotionally difficult journey to help repair their relationships. Viewers learn each of their stories -- how they met, how they fell in love, how their marriages took a turn for the worst and why they are willing to risk everything in order to save it. Lack of intimacy, communication and different interests are all factors that contributed to the decline in the couple's marriages. Two relationship experts -- Charles J. Orlando and Dr. Jessica Griffin -- help guide the couples through the switch therapy process, as they adjust to living with an experimental spouse. Will their temporary partners be able to fill the void they've been yearning for, or will they discover that the grass isn't always greener? At the end of the two week long experiment, each of the married couples will reunite and make the decision to either recommit to their spouse or part ways for good. The four married couples are: college sweethearts Heather and Aaron, who fell in love after building a solid foundation of friendship during their initial courtship; Dustin and Jaclyn, who met six years earlier during an MMA match where he was a fighter and she was the ring girl; Kelsey and James, who met while in school and immediately felt a connection the first time they spoke; and Tony and Liliya, who initially met online through mutual friends but then immediately hit it off after meeting in-person at a football game. Season 3 of SEVEN YEAR SWITCH premiered on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on a new cable channel: Lifetime. In the third season, four couples -- Rosslyn & Bobby (11 years together; 5 years married); Reece & Diane (10 years together; 9 years married); Anthony & Angela (7 years together; 5 years married); and Kenya & Charles (10 years together; 9 years married) -- embark on an emotionally difficult journey to help repair their relationships by participating in an extreme, innovative experiment of switch therapy. Each couple swaps partners and partakes in experimental marriages in order to help determine if different traits and characteristics in a mate could make their marriage stronger.
