Plot Synopsis

A parody of iconic musicals, SCHMIGADOON! is a musical comedy series that follows Melissa Gimble and Josh Skinner -- a couple on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship -- when they discover the magical town of Schmigadoon, where everyone acts as if they're in a studio musical from the 1940s. They then discover that they can't leave until they find true love. After realizing that they can't leave together, Josh and Melissa break up and start looking for romance around town. The first two episodes of SCHMIGADOON! dropped on Friday, July 16, 2021 on Apple TV+, with a new episode debuting each Friday through August 13.

SCHMIGADOON! returned for its second season on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 on Apple TV+, as the streaming service released the first two episodes of the new season. A new episode dropped weekly through May 3. Having found true love in the town of Schmigadoon in Season 1, this season Josh and Melissa are in Schmicago, the reimagined world of '60s and '70s musicals. The second season includes new original musical numbers from co-creator and executive producer Cinco Paul. In the season opener, "Welcome to Schmicago," Josh and Melissa, feeling joyless in the real world, attempt to return to Schmigadoon, but instead they find themselves in the darker world of Schmicago. Then, in "Doorway to Where," Josh makes a new friend in jail, while Melissa hires a lawyer and goes undercover to clear his name.
