Plot Synopsis

After Beth Harper, an absentee wife and mother, is revived following a near-death experience while choking on a sub sandwich, she starts to say and do things that shock her family -- because she now has a direct line to God. With her new powers, Beth begins dispensing advice, living life on the straight and narrow, and being a Good Samaritan. Her husband, Tom, while skeptical, begins to adjust to his wife's newfound ability to communicate with God, but his mistress, Carly, gets a shocking surprise when she shows up to confront Beth about their affair. Beth's teenage daughter, Emily, is horrified, and is caught in the middle as her parents try to re-establish some sense of normalcy within the family. Rounding out the cast is next-door neighbor Maggie, to whom Beth tries to return a long-ago stolen espresso machine, as she tries to make amends with friends and neighbors.
