Plot Synopsis

Using state-of-the-art graphic imagery, expert reconstructions and excursions to historical sites, this three-part series looks at every phase in the long history of Roman Britain, including: "Onslaught," depicting how the Romans came to Britain, conquered it, and ruled the island for centuries; "Revolt," investigating how Britons were eventually Romanized even though doubts arose about the Roman's ability to rule Britain; "Dominion," showing how people lived under Pax Romana -- the top end of society prospered while others found life tough and brutal. ROMAN INVASION OF BRITAIN premiered on Smithsonian Channel in the United States on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 8pm ET.
