Plot Synopsis

Based loosely on the life of radio personality Rickey Smiley, who is an Atlanta-based DJ and father of four adopted children, this sitcom follows Rickey as he balances work with his life as a single father. At home, Rickey is raising three children -- eldest Brandon, only daughter De'Anna, and youngest Aaron -- with the help of his Aunt Sylvia. At the radio station, he is the star of the TV version of "The Rickey Smiley Morning Show" radio program -- working with station general manager Maurice, show producer Kenny, and manager Simone -- where the station is a hot bed of office politics, back stabbing, sexual innuendo, social issues, celebrity appearances, and music. TV One aired the Season 2 premiere of this series on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 9pm ET, showing two back-to-back new episodes. In the second season. Rickey agrees to attend a NYC roast in his honor, hosts a celebrity fundraiser to raise money for Historically Black Colleges & Universities, and gets approached about doing a television show.

After a four month break, THE RICKEY SMILEY SHOW returned with new episodes on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on TV One. In "Solo We Can't Hear It," the first episode after the show's return, everyone has to undergo sensitivity training when a racist engineer causes problems at the station.
