Plot Synopsis

In this half-hour animated series created by COMMUNITY's Dan Harmon, Rick, an alcoholic genius inventor, and his less-than-genius grandson, Morty, share outrageous sci-fi adventures, while Morty endures an otherwise humdrum life at home and school. After missing for nearly 20 years, Rick suddenly arrives at his daughter Beth's doorstep looking to move in with her and her family. Beth welcomes him with open arms, but her unremarkable husband, Jerry, isn't too thrilled about the tearful reunion as Rick's arrival shakes things up quite a bit around the household. Rick converts the garage into his personal laboratory and gets to work on all sorts of dangerous sci-fi gadgets and contraptions. Plus, Rick uses his inventions to drag his reluctant grandson on bizarre adventures, like freezing Morty's bully to protect him, shrinking Morty and injecting him in his veins, or traveling with Morty through a portal to another world.

RICK AND MORTY returned for its second season on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 11:30pm ET/PT on Adult Swim. Rick Sanchez is still living with his daughter Beth's family and causing more trouble than ever. This season the rest of the family -- his son-in-law Jerry, grand-daughter Summer and grand-son Morty -- are dragged into Rick's intergalactic adventures, as he faces new threats and mysteries of his secret past are revealed. Can the family survive Rick's insanity and all the chaos the universe throws at them? In the season opener, "A Rickle in Time," Rick screws up the whole time frame; meanwhile, Beth and Jerry get romantic.

Season 3 of RICK AND MORTY premiered on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 11:30pm ET/PT on Adult Swim, immediately following an encore presentation of "The Rickshank Redemption," which originally debuted on April Fools Day 2017 in an unannounced all-night event. In the season opener, "Rickmancing the Stone," Rick searches for a glowing stone on another Earth, a post-apocalyptic Mad Max world. "Rickmancing the Stone" first screened at Comic-Con 2017.

The fourth season of RICK AND MORTY premiered on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 11:30pm ET/PT on Adult Swim. In the season opener, "Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat," Morty goes nuts, and Rick does stuff. After a five-month break, RICK AND MORTY returned with new episodes on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at 11:30pm ET/PT, as Adult Swim debuted the spring premiere, "Never Ricking Morty." Catching a train.

Season 5 of RICK AND MORTY premiered on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at 11pm ET/PT on Adult Swim. In the season opener, "Mort Dinner Rick Andre," a big man comes for dinner, and the booze needs to be checked. An out-of-this-world celebration of Global Rick and Morty Day (#GlobalRickAndMortyDay) is coming to fans Sunday, June 20. The premieres feature special surprises, fun moments and celebrations, as the mind-bending event kicks off the global premiere. For the first time ever, Adult Swim premieres the first episode from space by launching Rick's Space Cruiser 150,000 ft into the atmosphere.
