Plot Synopsis

RETURN TO AMISH is a one-hour reality series that follows five young men and women -- Abe, Rebecca, Sabrina, Jeremiah, and Kate -- who left their sheltered Amish and Mennonite lives for NYC in Season 1 of BREAKING AMISH, traveled to Sarasota, FL, in BREAKING AMISH: BRAVE NEW WORLD, and have moved on to the next phases of their lives. The entire group has now decided to return to Pennsylvania with the exception of Kate, who has chosen to stay in NYC. Mary, Katie Ann, and Andrew all return as well, while this series introduces viewers to Chester (Mary's husband), Chapel (Andrew's girlfriend) and Kayla (Rebecca's daughter). With two new babies on the way, the original group is growing fast. Abe and Rebecca prepare to welcome their baby into the family with both Amish and English traditions as they continue to adjust to married life. Sabrina's goes through the ups and downs of her pregnancy, with little to no support from her Mennonite family. Jeremiah's love life and current entrepreneurial pursuits are also highlighted, as is Mary's ongoing struggles with being shunned by the community. And as Andrew is newly released from jail, he tries to start fresh with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Chapel, while simultaneously trying to mend his relationship with his family -- a work in progress at best. Cameras also follow Kate as she officially becomes a New Yorker -- living on her own, dating in the big city, and focusing on her budding modeling career. TLC aired a two-hour series premiere of RETURN TO AMISH from 9-11pm ET/PT on Sunday, June 1, 2014, immediately following a one-hour special, "Return to Amish: Our Journey So Far," at 8pm ET/PT, which revisited the men and women of BREAKING AMISH, while reliving the journey of Abe, Rebecca, Sabrina, Jeremiah, and Kate.

RETURN TO AMISH returned for its second season on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on TLC, immediately following a new two-hour special "Countdown to the New Season" (7-9pm) and an all-day marathon (Noon-7pm) of encore episodes from Season 1. When Season 2 opens, Mary's shunning by the Amish church continues, but Chester is in the process of making peace with the bishop. Abe and Rebecca are raising their family, while coming to terms with the idea that their Amish past is getting further and further behind them. In New York City, Kate continues to model, but she undergoes plastic surgery that could greatly affect her career. Jeremiah attempts to regain some of his heritage in order to stabilize his life, and Katie Ann starts to feel a pull back toward the English life she once flirted with. Chapel deals with an unknown future, and Andrew throws her and the rest of the family for a loop by getting himself back into trouble. Later in the season, with Mary's health in question, the family rallies around her to help make her dreams a reality. While Chapel still struggles with her illness, Andrew reverts back to his old ways which lands him in jail. Kate returns after the news of Mary's poor health, and Jeremiah steps in to launch the bed and breakfast successfully. For the first time, viewers also meet Jeremiah's children, and everyone must put aside their differences to help Mary in her times of need.

Season 3 of RETURN TO AMISH premiered on on Sunday, July 10, 2016 from 9-11pm ET/PT on TLC, immediately following a six-hour marathon (1-7pm) of encore episodes and a two-hour preview (7-9pm) of the new season. The crew visits New York City to remember the pivotal moments and ground-breaking memories they had when they first experienced the culture outside of the Amish community. From strangers to friends and now more like family, this season highlights big decisions, shocking announcements and rekindled friendships of the beloved Amish group. On the upcoming season, Sabrina reunites with the rest of the crew after battling addiction. Clean and sober, her main goal is to regain custody of her daughter, Oakley. She convinces Mary, Jeremiah, Abe, and Rebecca to visit Kate in New York to recharge their friendships. Kate continues to pursue her dream of working in the fashion industry beyond modeling by taking classes and trying to secure a high profile internship. She's found that making a name for herself is much more difficult than she imagined. While in the city, Abe and Rebecca spend quality time together to try and get the spark back in their relationship. With Abe on the road the majority of the time, the first years of marriage have not been easy, but being in the city where he and Rebecca fell in love reminds them of the reasons they are together. After being banished from the Amish church, Mary has a big decision to make about her future. The group rallies around her to support her during the transition, and Jeremiah makes an announcement about his long distance relationship that leaves everybody in shock.

Feeling betrayed, Mary decides to try a number of the English activities she's always resisted. But will her husband Chester get caught between his wife and his community? The struggle to keep a family together doesn't stop there. Sabrina is pregnant with her second child and in a renewed custody battle for her daughter, Oakley. Against Abe's wishes, Rebecca seeks to get her GED in an effort to become a more independent woman, sparking tension between the two. Viewers will be introduced to Rosanna and Maureen as they leave their tight-knit Amish communities for the first time, traveling to join Jeremiah, Carmella and Sabrina to experience many "firsts" in the non-Amish world. Rosanna's sheltered life hasn't prepared her to deal with the stress of the English, or non-Amish, world, but she's determined to soak up her new surroundings.
