Plot Synopsis
Based on the comic book series of the same name, RESIDENT ALIEN is a one-hour dramedy series that follows Harry, an alien that crash lands on Earth and passes himself off as a small-town human doctor in Patience, Colorado. Arriving with a secret mission to kill all humans, Harry starts off living a simple life... but things get a bit rocky when he's roped into solving a local murder and realizes he needs to assimilate into his new world. As he does so, he begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his mission and asking the big life questions like: "Are human beings worth saving?" and "Why do they fold their pizza before eating it?"
The sophomore season of RESIDENT ALIEN premieres on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on Syfy, with a simulcast on USA Network. New episodes debut weekly on Wednesdays at 9pm through its mid-season finale on March 16. Additional Season 2 episodes then debut in Summer 2022. In the new season, Harry is once again stranded on Earth where he must confront the consequences of having failed his people's mission to destroy the human race. On his new quest to protect the people of Earth, Harry struggles to hold on to his alien identity as his human emotions grow stronger by the day. In an adventure that takes Harry and Asta all the way to New York City, Asta brings Harry into the arms of someone he can call family. While back in Patience, Sheriff Mike and Deputy Liv find themselves closer to unraveling the mystery of Sam Hodges's murder. On Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT, Syfy premieres the second half of RESIDENT ALIEN's second season, with a simulcast on USA Network. In the summer premiere, "Autopsy," Asta is overwhelmed with guilt after she, Harry, and D'arcy get rid of the dead body.
Season 3 of RESIDENT ALIEN premiered on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 10pm ET/PT on Syfy, with a simulcast on USA Network. In Season 3, Harry is vowing to work with General McCallister to rid the Earth of the Grey aliens -- a task made more difficult when he discovers that the Grey Hybrid Joseph has taken a job in town as the new Deputy. Joseph isn't Harry's only obstacle -- Harry struggles to balance business and his personal life when he falls in love for the first time. Meanwhile, Asta and D'arcy move in together and struggle to discover their purpose in the world, Sheriff Mike and Deputy Liv continue their quest to find out who killed the Alien Tracker, and Ben and Kate are forced to deal with the subconscious repercussions of their alien abductions.

RESIDENT ALIEN returned for its fourth season on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 11pm ET/PT on USA Network and Syfy. The fourth season starts with Harry and his baby Bridget stuck in prison on the Grey Moonbase, while a shape-shifting Alien called a Mantid has taken over his body on Earth passing himself off as the real Harry Vanderspeigle. Harry manages to escape the Greys and arrives back on Earth for a showdown with the Mantid Alien but soon finds he may not have what he needs to finish the job. Asta and D'arcy struggle to keep a secret from Ben and Kate, who are both desperate to find answers to what has been happening to them. Sheriff Mike and Deputy Liv attempt to solve some mysterious deaths in Patience that Sheriff Mike is beginning to think aren't caused by anything human. Alan Tudyk makes his television directorial debut helming the first two episodes of the season.
