Plot Synopsis

This faux reality show follows Mickey Wagner, a down-on-his-luck reality-show producer, who stakes his comeback on a revolutionary idea -- a reality show that's so real, the participants don't know they're being recorded. Mickey painstakingly picks the Warwicks, an average all-American family, and puts them under all-encompassing surveillance -- without the family's knowledge, of course -- but the family is boring and the studio wants more sizzle. As Mickey feels mounting pressure from the network and their need to sell to advertisers, Mickey starts to introduce drama into the unwitting family's lives. And when advertisers embrace the concept and buy time for product placement, Mickey must figure out a way to manipulate things so that the Warwicks are seen on camera using the items. The drama unfolds, but not quickly enough, until Mickey captures footage of the daughter's near-death experience, leading him to push the Warwicks even more...until everything unravels in a big way. The unfortunate family includes: Dennis Warwick, a 50-year-old accountant and amateur chef; Katherine, a retired teacher and stay-at-home mom; and their daughter, Amy, a high-school honor-roll student.
