Plot Synopsis

Set in present day on a Colorado ranch, THE RANCH is a multi-camera comedy series that follows Colt's return home after a brief and failed semi-pro football career to run the family ranching business with his older brother Jameson 'Rooster' and father Beau, whom he hasn't seen in 15 years. While they're on the farm, Colt and Jimmy's mother, Maggie, runs the local town bar. Netflix released the first 10 episodes on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT.

Netflix released the Part 2 of THE RANCH on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. In Part 2 (sometimes called the second half of the first season), it seems like ex-football star Colt Bennett has finally accepted his place on the family ranch, but he and his brother Rooster will have to prove themselves to their father Beau if they ever hope to become partners. Maggie has hopes of her own and they may no longer involve her on-again/off-again husband and after finally saving his ranch, Beau might be losing his family. And if life weren't complicated enough, when Colt's high school sweetheart Abby expresses doubts about her fiance, Colt must choose between his current girlfriend and his first love. Dysfunctional doesn't even cover this family.

On Friday, June 16, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the 10-episode third part of THE RANCH (sometimes called the first half of Season 2). In this part, Heather's pregnant, and Colt's trying to do the right thing -- but having a kid is a lot harder than having an Xbox. Plus, Colt is forced to face the new reality of his complicated love triangle with Abby and Heather; Rooster settles into relationship life with Mary after bitterly moving off the ranch; and Maggie and Beau navigate life as divorced friends. In the season opener, "My Next Thirty Years," after Heather drops a bombshell, a visit from Abby's parents is the last thing Colt needs -- and they all end up at church together on Christmas Eve. Then, after Heather makes a decision about the pregnancy, Mary reads Rooster the riot act for keeping it a secret and Colt struggles with how to tell Abby.

Netflix released the 10-episode fourth part of THE RANCH on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. In Part 4 (sometimes called the second half of Season 2), new business ventures, relationships and challenges keep the Bennett men on their toes -- and at odds with the women in their lives. In the season opener, "Learning to Live Again," Colt wants to buy Sam Peterson's ranch -- with or without his family's blessing. Colt and Heather have a heart-to-heart about their loss. Then, in the season's second episode, "Wrapped Up in You," Colt is wondering if he's ready to marry Abby and seeks romantic advice from an unlikely source: Beau. Rooster hires a flaky new waitress.

Part 5 (sometimes called the first part of Season 3) debuted on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released 10 episodes of THE RANCH. Fed up with the boys, Beau draws a line in the sand. Colt struggles to deal with the fallout as his relationship with Abby evolves. In the season opener, "Starting Over Again," Beau vows to stop sweating the small stuff in the wake of his heart attack, but Colt and Rooster's latest blunder makes him lose his cool.

The second half of Season 3 (also called Part 6) was released on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released 10 more episodes. Colt confronts the challenges of running a ranch as he and Abby get ready to become parents. And a second new arrival keeps the Bennetts on their toes. The new episodes begin with Abby in Denver teaching; meanwhile, Colt works to rebuild the Peterson ranch. Rooster misses his first day of work. After a fight with Nick lands Colt in hot water, Mary presses her ex for the truth. Beau delivers troubling news. Beau intervenes to keep Colt out of trouble. Abby and Colt follow a lead. Maggie returns to Garrison, and Mary wrestles with guilt.

Netflix released Part 7 (sometimes called the first half of Season 4) on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. Colt struggles to reconcile with Abby while Beau and Joanne grapple with the challenges of getting older. Meanwhile, Mary and Luke run into trouble. In the season opener, "Dying to See Her," Abby asks Colt for space, but he finds every excuse in the book to drop by. Luke and Mary tie the knot in Vegas. Lisa Neumann accuses Colt of theft. Then, back in Colorado, Luke works to win back Colt and Beau's trust. Abby invites Colt to a teachers' mixer. Mary struggles to stay clean.

The final 10 episodes of the series were released on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT on Netflix, which called the collection Part 8 (but others call the second half of Season 4). With Iron River Ranch now in a competitor's hands and more trouble on the horizon, Colt, Beau and the rest of the Bennetts must band together as they face an uncertain future. In the first episode, "It Ain't My Fault," Luke, Colt and Beau find Mary in bad shape in Nick's trailer. While Luke brings Mary back to the ranch, Colt and Beau wait for Nick.
