Plot Synopsis

PUNKIN CHUNKIN is an annual extravaganza where teams (and more than 30,000 fans) gather in Delaware to see whose homemade contraption can propel a pumpkin the farthest. This annual special takes viewers behind the firing line, getting up close and personal with the explosive contraptions and personalities. PUNKIN CHUNKIN has become a pop culture phenomenon, inspiring countless backyard warriors looking to recreate the wacky rituals that make up this autumnal event. The World Championship Punkin Chunkin Association (WCPCA), which benefits a number of charitable organizations, including St. Jude's Children's Hospital, had annually hosted the event in a cornfield in Sussex County Delaware through 2013. The WCPA attempted to move the event to the Dover International Speedway for 2014, but postponed the event until November 6-8, 2015, which was later canceled because the WCPA could not secure adequate insurance for the 2015 event. Hosted by Kari Byron and Tory Belleci for the fourth consecutive year, PUNKIN CHUNKIN: SUPERCHUNK! debuted simultaneously on Science Channel and Discovery Channel from 8-10pm ET/PT on Saturday, November 29, 2014. Following the postponement of the 2014 championship in Dover, this year's PUNKIN CHUNKIN combines best-of moments from the event's history with new footage, as some of the nation's top punkin chunkers were invited to an extravaganza in Greenfield, New Hampshire, where they tried to chunk TVs, pianos, toilets, and cars. Plus, the teams still chunked pumpkins, but this year they tried to break the record for the heaviest pumpkin chunk and even used the orange ghourds as weapons to shoot up trailers and other objects.

Following the postponement of the 2015 event, on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, Science Channel premiered "Punkin Chunkin All-Stars," a one-hour special that features a countdown of the all-stars of the Chunk, showing the competition's greatest teams and machines.
