Plot Synopsis

In THE PROBLEM WITH JON STEWART, host and executive producer Jon Stewart explores complex topics through the differing perspectives of stakeholders, experts and individuals confronting these challenges. Episode topics range from the struggle for comprehensive veteran care to better ways to support the American working class, as the series tackles ongoing national conversations that have domestic and global impact. The series premiere dropped on Thursday, September 30, 2021 on Apple TV+, with a new episode debuting every other week through November 11. After a four-month break, THE PROBLEM WITH JON STEWART returned with new episodes on Thursday, March 3, 2022 on Apple TV+. In the mid-season premiere, "Stock Market," the rise of e-brokers was meant to democratize the stock market -- yet inequality in the market has actually worsened. How can it be fixed?

The sophomore season of THE PROBLEM WITH JON STEWART premiered on Friday, October 7, 2022 on Apple TV+. This season, Jon Stewart tackles topics like: "The War Over Gender" (season premiere); "Where Is Our Tax Money Going?" (October 14); and more. Season 2 features special appearances from LeVar Burton and Susan Sarandon. After a four-month break, THE PROBLEM WITH JON STEWART returned with new episodes on Friday, March 3, 2023 on Apple TV+. Season 2 continues with six weekly episodes tackling crime, defense policy, inflation, the backsliding of democracy and more, as well as the series' first-ever overseas interview with foreign policy leaders. In the mid-season premiere, "Chaos, Law and Order," Jon asks if you can be tough on crime but soft on guns. The numbers say no, but too many legislators say yes. Jon talks with State Senator Nathan Dahm (R-OK) about crimes and guns. Later this season, Stewart also sits down with General David Petraeus to discuss defense; Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) about prison reform and rehabilitation, and for the first time ever the series will travel abroad for Stewart to speak with foreign policy leaders.
