Plot Synopsis

Engineer Kevin Cook travels the world to put a cash value on three of the world's most iconic monuments -- the Eiffel Tower, the Great Pyramid of Giza and Grand Central Terminal in New York City. In each 60-minute episode, Cook focuses on a single monument, using three different ways to value each structure. First, he estimates its scrap value by acting like a scrap dealer who would break it down piece by piece to sell it off. Next, as an engineer he discovers how the building was constructed, and estimates how much it would cost to rebuild today. Finally, Cook values each building's profit-and cost-margins to determine how much someone might pay if they would purchase the monument as a business. Nat Geo aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Thursday, December 15, 2011, by showing all three episodes from 8-11pm ET/PT.
