Plot Synopsis

THE PRANCING ELITES PROJECT is a half-hour reality series that follows five best friends on an African American, gay and gender non-conforming dance team in Mobile, Alabama, as they fight to be accepted in the female-dominated dance culture of J-Setting. Currently excluded from competitions and banned from participating in several hometown and national parades, The Prancing Elites seek other ways to showcase their talent from dancing in the stands at college football games to performing on a boat cruise. Despite professional rejections, family disapproval and tensions, personal health crises and heartbreak, the group won't let anything stand in their way as they continue to lift one another up and band together in the face of adversity. Hoping to build a name for themselves outside the walls of Mobile, this dream team is determined to see their name in lights and go wherever the music takes them. The members of The Prancing Elites are: Adrian Clemons, a classically trained dancer, who turned down an invitation to join the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater to pursue his dream of becoming a dancer on his own terms; Kentrell Collins, the captain and founder of The Prancing Elites, who is determined to see the team rise above the clutches of Mobile, Alabama, and take on the world; Kareem Davis, the group's newest member, played on the baseball, football and basketball teams in high school, but has since traded in his jerseys for a dance leotard; Jerel Maddox, who is unafraid to speak his mind and is always pushing the group to go bigger, be bolder, and reach farther than the rest think possible; and Timothy Smith, the peacemaker of the group, who loves each of the members dearly -- but often finds herself in the middle of the drama. Season 2 of THE PRANCING ELITES PROJECT premiered on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT on Oxygen. Earlier in the day, Oxygen broadcast a six-hour marathon (Noon-6pm) of encore episodes from the first season. The sophomore season features all five original members -- Adrian Clemons, Kentrell Collins, Kareem Davis, Jerel Maddox and Tim Smith -- who have begun to defy the odds and find success and acceptance in the South. But as they head home to hone their skills, they start exploring who they are as individuals pulling their focus away from the group. Performance invitations come in, but with each Elite dedicating less time to the team, Kentrell is realizing their biggest competitor might just be themselves. In the season opener, "Prance to My Own Beat," Kentrell struggles to keep the team together when other side projects come into play, as the team's success continues to grow. Meanwhile, Kareem is given a tempting offer by a rival dance team, and Adrian mentors a group of young dancers.
