Plot Synopsis

In this half-hour comedy series, Cassi Davis and LaVan Davis reprise their roles as Ella and Curtis Payne from the series HOUSE OF PAYNE. As Curtis and Ella are enjoying their retirement, a death in the family takes them on the road to Florida, where Curtis, without Ella's knowledge, is roped into a real estate deal that tumbles their lives like clothes in a dryer -- with plenty of laughs and life lessons along the way. After he realizes that he has been swindled, Curtis is out for blood. Later, Ella has a change of heart after visiting the local church, where she meets Nyla, a beautiful young woman in need. Once they get familiar with their new situation, the Paynes begin to settle into their new life with the help of their cousins. THE PAYNES on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 premiered with back-to-back episodes from 10-11pm ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, and then moved to its regular timeslot -- Fridays at 9pm -- three days later on January 19. After a 2.5-month break, THE PAYNES returned with new episodes on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on OWN. In the summer premiere, "A Payneful Bounce," after much needed work, renovations on the Laundromat are finally complete. Curtis and Ella are excited until federal agents intervene.

On Friday, November 30, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network premiered the season finale of THE PAYNES. In the season ender, "Payneful Choices," Nyla is left with life-altering decisions.
