Plot Synopsis

Based on Min Jin Lee's 2017 book of the same name, PACHINKO is drama series that begins with a forbidden love and crescendos into a sweeping saga that journeys between Korea, Japan and America to tell an unforgettable story of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning. The series opens in 1920s Korea, where Yanglin and Hoonie shield their only child, Sunja, from the realities of life under colonial rule. In 1989, Solomon closes a big deal. Told in three languages -- Korean, Japanese, and English -- PACHINKO debuted on Friday, March 25, 2022, as Apple TV+ released the first three episodes. A new episode debuts each Friday through April 29, 2022.

On Friday, April 29, 2022, Apple TV+ released "Chapter Eight," the Season 1 finale of PACHINKO. Sunja learns that Isak has been arrested and searches for him with the aid of her young son. Solomon makes a fateful decision.

The same morning, Apple TV+ announced that it renewed PACHINKO for a second season. "Words cannot express my joy in being able to continue telling the extraordinary story of this indomitable family," said creator, writer and executive producer Soo Hugh. "I'm grateful to the amazing team at Apple and Media Res studio for believing and supporting this show and to our passionate fans who have cheered us on. It's an honor to be able to continue working with this amazing cast and crew."
