Plot Synopsis

Created and written by Seth MacFarlane, THE ORVILLE is a live-action, one-hour space adventure series set 400 years in the future that follows The U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the problems of everyday life. The series opens with a newly-promoted captain of the exploratory spaceship U.S.S. Orville being surprised when he learns that his ex-wife has been assigned as his First Officer. THE ORVILLE has a two-night series premiere, following the NFL doubleheaders at 8pm ET/5pm PT on consecutive Sundays -- September 10 & 17 -- before moving to its regular timeslot -- Thursdays at 9pm -- beginning September 21.

Tonight (Thursday, November 16, 2017) at 9pm ET/PT, FOX premieres the "Firestorm" episode of THE ORVILLE. After a crew member dies as the result of a fire that broke out on The Orville, Alara questions her efficacy as the ship's chief of security, but she has little time to reflect before peculiar and terrifying events begin to happen on the ship.

Two weeks earlier -- on Thursday, November 2 -- FOX renewed THE ORVILLE for a second season, as announced today by Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. "Once again Seth has struck a powerful chord with viewers," said Thorn. "He has delivered a series full of optimism, drama and his trademark humor. We want to thank him and the rest of the talented cast, as well as the producers and crew, for an incredible first season. We can't wait to see where The Orville travels in the second."
