Plot Synopsis

In each episode of OPRAH'S BOOK CLUB features a book handpicked by host Oprah Winfrey, along with an interview with the author about tissues that the book brings to light. In this series, Oprah continues to build her global book club community, while connecting with people around the world and sharing meaningful ways to create positive change. In the series opener, Oprah and author Ta-Nehisi Coates discuss the 10-year process of writing "The Water Dancer," his debut novel, as well as the cultural conversations it has provoked. Plus, Ta-Nehisi visits Montecello, which inspired his book. The first episode of OPRAH'S BOOK CLUB premiered on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Apple TV+ released the series on the same day the streaming network launched. New episodes are released every two months, providing viewers sufficient time to read, contemplate and discuss each novel.

OPRAH'S BOOK CLUB returned for its second installment on Friday, January 17, 2020, featuring Elizabeth Strout and her book, "Olive, Again," a follow-up to "Olive Kitteridge." In this episode, Elizabeth tells Oprah how her celebrated protagonist reappeared and why she finds the everydayness of life to be extraordinary. "My latest pick is Elizabeth Strout's 'Olive, Again.' Ah, Olive. She teaches us so much about loneliness, judgment, aging, and loss. And empathy, too. I'm in awe of Strout's ability to convey so much in so few words," said Oprah.
