Plot Synopsis

Prairie Johnson, a missing blind girl, returns to the community she grew up in with her sight restored -- and able to see her parents, Nancy and Abel, for the first time. Some hail her a miracle, others a dangerous mystery or a freak, but Prairie won't talk about her seven missing years with anyone except four teenage boys -- a trans kid named Buck; a bully, Steve; the athletic French; and Jesse, a loser -- whom she tells her story to in order to recruit them for a mission. Only a few understand where she's been: to the brink of an unseen world. On Friday, December 16, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the eight-episode first season of THE OA, which was created by, directed by, and written by series star Brit Marling.

Netflix released the eight-episode second season of THE OA on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. After waking up to a new life in San Francisco, OA is drawn into a search for a missing teen and begins to encounter familiar faces from her past. While private eye Karim Washington scours San Francisco for a missing teen who was involved in a cryptic game, OA wakes up in unfamiliar surroundings. At the clinic, OA discovers what happened to her friends back at Hap's. Karim turns his attention to a doctor who worked for Pierre Ruskin. In Michigan, Steve begs the gang to try jumping to another dimension, and a presence in Buck's mirror inspires an unlikely pilgrimage.
